Christmas is a magical time in Rutland. The nearby market towns of Oakham, Stamford and Uppingham (which are all within 8 miles of the cottage), come into their own at this time of year with beautiful decorations, an array of local, independent shops selling gorgeous gifts and the traditional markets which are bustling as they sell local produce for the festive season. Rutland Sailing Club and Rutland Water Fishing Lodge and Normanton Cycle Hire, which are all within walking distance of the cottage, are still open although not busy allowing time to enjoy Rutland Water in the quieter season.
